(happy)
Clean Sheets
Ironed and crisp
the bed all flat –
no wrinkles.
The fire’s lit
with a fizz –
blissful warmth.
(irritating)
Cupboard doors
left open –
head banged.
Muddy footprints –
backache
from stooping.

My grandmothers used to iron everything. I like sheets dried on the line… but I don’t iron.
I wonder if the hotels use perma-press sheets. There was one hotel I was at in Italy that hung the sheets everyday to dry (we had gone in summer) and probably had a large pressing machine.
I had worked in a dry cleaner for a while but it was a small one and didn’t have a pressing machine.

I have a friend who has an ironing machine for sheets, but mine are done straight from the line, in the old-fashioned way.

And the fresh clean scent of ironed bed linen that has dried outside in a garden …

Made me remember my Grandmother ironing sheets (fresh off the line). I guess that was before Percale. Simple pleasure are the best. I can’t stand open cabinets and doors ajar.

I like the contrast of emotions over the small things – oh, I had forgotten I once used to iron sheets. LOL.

So true and how did you know I leave cupboard doors open? Must be a man thing!

LOVE clean sheets. 🙂
My husband hates closing cupboard doors (I think it’s the sound.) I keep trying to explain to him that they are exactly at my 5’2″ head level. 😉

we have quiet doors, which close themselves from an inch away, but he still leaves them open at my head level.

Yep the small things can easily pile up to be the big thing ~ especially the irritating ones!

You’ve painted the contrasting small things so well, Viv! I love clean sheets, too! 🙂

I love the look of ironed sheets but rarely do it, it’s such a pain. I usually time the washing machine to finish when I’m going to be around and rush them straight outside to hang them up and minimise the creases. It all went awry this morning, of course, as it was raining and they are linen! 😦

Yes I deal with bed linens in exactly the same way. Take them off the line, pop int dryer and then fold and put away. Works for me but I do like the look of ironed bed linen

That’s why I have a sneaky liking for hotel beds. I don’t like ironing either.
