RJ Clarken at Poetic Bloomings wants us to write a Pensée, a syllabic poem with a stanza of 2 – 4 – 7 – 8 – 6 syllables. Line one is the subject, line 2 is description, line 3 is action line 4 is the setting and line 5 is final thoughts on the poem.
I loathe syllable counting poems, and to add insult to injury, the Octpowrimo prompt today is to write in or about NUMBERS which I dislike almost as much. I think you can tell, from the poems!
Postcode of five numbers helps the postman to find you. Our new home in le Clos des Champs is five O two one O OR Numbers |
My Social Security and Tax numbers are about 14 characters long. Is it any wonder I can’t remember them? I can remember car numbers in sequence since My Uncle’s Wolseley in 1944, but not the current one!
Well done! I love how you not only rise to a poetic challenge, but clobber it in the face and stomp right on over it 🙂

Remember Patrick McGoohan? “They’re giving you a number and taking ‘way your name…” Secret Agent! I can’t believe you hated the form, yet you wrote TWO. Are you a masochist, or just extraordinarily creative? I go for #2. Amy

Love it! That last line really packs a punch, and you make an important point. We are not numbers! We are human beings.

I loath numbers and cheated 🙂 You didn’t because you are brave! And hey, you did it well! 🙂

You wouldn’t like mine–it’s a syllable count.
Even though you don’t like numbers, you did well!

You did well on a prompt you didn’t like!
The answer to all personal number questions is, of course, cucumber.

I really like the rhythm of the first poem! I sympathize, when I saw the numbers prompt I got nauseous. 🙂
