Big Tent 21/2/11 holiday prompt didn’t really grab me, but I had a go.
Holidays – all the happy people
Friendship Day – if it doesn’t exist, it should
Poetry Day – be sure to read or write some
Smile day – make us all grin
Anti-holiday – all the lonely people,
debts and rows and family splits

Commercial fest and then the sales start.
If you’ve any sense that’s when to buy
gifts for next year, and put them by.
Remember where you’ve hidden them.

I’m kind of taken with the notion of an anti-holiday, Viv – albeit a less grisly one than you contemplate! I’ve never been much of a joiner and I like the sense of a day for the disaffected.

Kind of reminds me what a holiday becomes when we have another intense event that is overshadowing it, the anti-holiday.

Re: the second poem – I am not much of a shopper, and the few times I have stowed away an early gift, I have had to tear things up looking for where I hid them!
