is the prompt from http://carryontuesdayprompt.blogspot.com/
My response is strange, given that my father was a banker!
There’s nothing so comforting
as freedom from debt
poor though we may be, we’re happy.
But give me a credit card
and the worries would start,
so please don’t.
I’d rather wait
for what I want.
And as for lending,
that’s the way to lose friends.
I’ll gladly give what I can
without need to repay.
Lending to friends is a good way to lose friends. Lending to family is a good way to become estranged from family members.

I agree, you are so right, although I don’t follow this advice or my own. Hmmm…something is not right in Denmark, 🙂

Very sound financial plan. It’s my philosophy too.

Wise words, but so very difficult to follow in this materialistic society of ours. Thanks for sharing!

Such common sense lines! I hate credit cards, too.

With you all the way on this one.
I always keep a small amount of change in the inbuilt cup holder of my car, just in case I need to park at a parking meter and have to have a coin to use, so, there’s usually about 6 bucks in there in coins. Someone broke into it last night, left my inhaler and a box of Tic tacs on the seat that they removed from on top of the coins and took the money.
You know, I would rather they had knocked my door and asked for it. I would’ve given it to them if they were that desperate for money.
But yes, you’re right, sometimes we lend a friend something, they think they don’t need to pay it back because they’re your friend after all… thus ends the friendship right there.
Great write and a great read.

Thank you. I’m sorry your car was broken into. Crime here is so rare that I rarely lock either house or car. We are very lucky. Parking is free, too.

I second the motion! It’s not the money we owe that kills us, it’s the weight of carrying it.
