Pattern

Patchwork involves multiple repeated patterns
which joined together make new patterns
which are quilted with more patterns
to join three layers into a whole.
Combinations of light, medium and dark colours
make more patterns within other patterns
a complex weave, like life.

The quilts are terrific and it is wonderful when the weaves work together. I think a skilled seer of patterns (like you) can kind of make them work. k.

Like life, indeed. Mine is more like a crazy quilt, though the fabric repeats, often with patterns. Fine variety you have.

Beautiful work, Viv…I love quilts and can appreciate all the work (patterning) that goes into creating one. And yes, complex just like our lives.

  11. Tight poem – the patterns repeat, join, become larger, more important, become ingrained and become who we are. Well done!

My chronic doodling is often pattern-based too, V, and repetition plays a big part in that as well as in my poetry and (sadly, to My Beloved Sandra’s distraction) my speech.
Sometimes, after some word or phrase has captured my ear & caused me to repeat it a dozen or more times (with varied inflection, emphasis, tone, etc) My Beloved Sandra has to scream at me to shut the hell up.
