Food, Glorious Food

I’ve written many perfumed poems, including my favourite A Smelly Poem and I don’t want to re-cover old ground, so here are a couple of  little senryu for Grace’s prompt at dVerse, to drizzle our poems with scents.  I’m sure there will  be some great  perfumed poems there, so do pop over for a read.

Anyone who scents
bacon frying out of doors
yearns to eat it now.

Toasting cheese
sniffed when passing by ─
savoury sensation.

The bartenders at the dVerse poets’ pub are having a couple of weeks
off, and I am flying over to UK tomorrow for a week in Northumberland with daughter Sally.  I may be laptop-less, so don’t be alarmed if you don’t see me here for a while.

It’s amazing how a short senryu or simple image of bacon can exude such strong olfactory reaction!! Have a great trip and wonderful visit with your daughter, Viv 🙂

I think I love the smell of bacon cooking more than the taste.
Have a lovely visit with your daughter – I hope she spoils you when you are there.

  6. Some of the most powerful poems are as brief as a senryu. You’ve demonstrated that here. Safe voyage to you, and your voice will be missed!

Oh, my God! You ARE evil! Bacon frying! Cheese cooking! What, no hot, flowing chocolate for dessert? Good thing I’m going to my Dr. next week; it forces me to be good just thinking about that appointment! Lovely scent-i-ments, Viv!

  8. I believe that neighbors derive a perverse pleasure from frying bacon when I’m walking the dogs before breakfast.

Cheese, I love them. Bacon, very tempting though I don’t eat them now for health reasons.

Enjoy your trip to UK and see you when the pub opens again on July 18 Viv. Take care.
