The sun rose ─
we rejoiced to see it ─
winter miseries
on the way out, albeit
late and slow.
It didn’t get much better
as the days went past.
Some days hope rose
with the sun.
As July approaches
will summer come at last?

Beautifully crafted…though our weather patterns here are dissimilar to yours, I could still feel like I was there, longing for the summer to come….

Very cold here, even though we have passed the winter solstice.

I think your use of punctuation in this poem adds to the feeling of disappointment in the summer. The hesitation in the first lines, coupled with the interesting use of rhyme – kind of whimsical. I also loved the lines:
Some days hope rose
with the sun’.
I was feeling like that today – it’s been pouting since this afternoon again.

I love the subtle rhyme here, and the pace, and sound, of this:
“albeit
late and slow.”

Argh! You took me back to Northern Upstate New York! Snow possible in August through April… but don’t count out May…. I took Nature’s hint. I left as quickly as possible! Great poem! Too real.

Sounds like Summer is acting up all over but at least it gave you (another) good poem.

I’ve run out of subjects! Or at least I don’t want to write about politics or football.

I envy you, Viv. Because here in Northern California today was the hottest day of the year with temperatures over 103 degrees. 🙂

So Glad that you used rose to mention sunshine and hope. We are having so much dry heat now–wish I could e-mail some to you!
