Machines trail lacy scarves
knitted from white vapour yarn,
write messages across the blue,
encrypted puzzle for those below

Who’s been playing noughts and crosses in our sky?
Where have they come from,
where are they going
and why?

    Here the lack of contrails was very noticeable when the Icelandic volcano stopped play in the sky. Sally
