6-word-Saturday

Two steps forwards, one step backwards.

I haven’t made much progress with my second pineapple quilt project this week.
Energy levels low and too many naps!   Three blocks are finished but I’ve run out of the teal fabric to do the last strips on the other five.  Jock’s away, so I have no transport to go to Hambye for more supplies.  To crown it all, I’ve just snipped a hole in one of the inside strips while tidying up loose threads.  Still, there are much worse things happening in the world, so I mustn’t grumble.   5 unfinished pineapple blocks

3 pineapple blocks

At least I’ve made a couple of large rich fruit cakes for Jock’s homecoming.  Several good friends have called round bringing fresh eggs.  I can only eat a few before I become egg-bound, so that seemed a good use for them  (eggs, not friends!).

  1. Glad you came up with a solution for the little hole. Kate always has great ideas to fix things. You made laugh at the eggs and friends comment.

I do relate to the need for naps and the stress of many little things going wrong. On the positive side, your quilt looks lovely.

I don’t have any tips, except to say that sometimes a challenge can prove a good thing to a creative person. In trying to figure out solutions, one can come up with even better ideas.

Thanks for your visit to my blog. Go eat and enjoy the weekend!

What a lovely colour scheme you’ve chosen for your new pineapples. I’ve been there with the accidental holes before… My solution was and still is to iron on some lightweight interfacing at the back and embroider something over the top. I suppose it depends a little on how much you mind and how much it shows! I love the sound of those fruitcakes – I’ve just been given the recipe for coconut pannacotta, infusing the coconut milk with cinnamon, star anise, cardamom and kaffir lime leaves before setting it with gelatine. Can’t wait to try it – I’m thinking mango purée or mandarin syrup to serve with it…
