Bird Words

Bird Words

A comfort of song-thrushes
a peck of worm-hunters
a jabber of sparrows
a swoop of ospreys
a tickle of feathers
a stoop of kestrels
a perch of parrots
a wheel of flight
the fluttering
the beauty
the verve
of birds

Bird Words for dVerse.  The image is of the bathroom window made by Jock and left behind in our last house.  In turn, it was a repeat of one he made for our first French House.

Really fun, Viv. The prompt was such an interesting one. You and your husband are so talented. I just clicked on “Jock’s Embroideries”…just amazing and I also admired your quilting handiwork. I love the stained glass window that your husband crafted too. What a creative couple you make!

  9. I love birds, of every kind, in every place even thieving magpies. That window is beautiful, must have been a bit heartbreaking to leave it and others behind.

I followed the link and it was so interesting – I hadn’t heard of many of those bird words. I think my particular favourite has to be ‘a paddle of ducks’.

An exaltation of larks, a murmuration of starlings, a parliament of rooks. You’ve picked one of my favourite classes of words. Love this poem, Viv!
