Quadrille: Grin

sunrise 8.3.167.30 am  today

To see the sun pop up
like a jack-in-the-box
from the horizon this morning
makes me grin with happiness.
My morning walk will be all pleasure,
unencumbered by waterproofs.
Wet washing can be dried outside
─ or can it?
Take heed of shepherd’s warning.

 Quadrille – Grin, 2nd try

When I kiss you in all the folding places,
you squirm and giggle, wave and wriggle.

When I blow a skoozle on your bum,
you chuckle, grin, blow bubbles.

When I see your eyelids flutter,
I sleep when you sleep or not at all.

This makes Hank remember the good times with the grand-children. Cheeky lines but true in all reality, Viv!

I love them both in different ways – but particularly the second, so joyous.

  5. Oh, yes–that red morning. In the meantime, I hope you had time to enjoy being outside without the need for all those encumberments that rain imposes.

The second one did remind me of my brief career as a ‘mother’ during the three weeks it took the true one to recover …Talk about sleepless in un-seattled!
Interesting whether the red skies belong to shepherds, sailors, or (as I learnt it) a mix with the delight being for the former and the warning for the latter.

  7. Oh I love the sunrise, that way you will grin in the face of dawn… and the second poem made me smile with joy.

Yeah, we had one snowy day here, just a fitful sprinkling–but I’m not complaining; I despise winter’s intrusion on my daily routines. Both poems are brilliant & fun. We just welcomed grandchild #7 last week, & now sit around smelling his head–for nothing smells better-though a puppy comes close.

    A jack-in-the-box sun? FANTASTIC.
    And oh, this line:
“When I kiss you in all the folding places”

That second one brought back some great memories for this mama of two (who are now young teenagers). Thank you!

We had sun this morning, lovely, but it made it so humid there was no point in hanging out the wash, it would have got wetter than when it came out of the machine! Lovely red sky morning photo!

We’ve had snow but nothing substantial. The frost on the grass this morning looks more like white paint!

Just having the same debate about the washing myself. It’s sunny this morning yet snowing when I went to bed last night.
