The intrepid explorer left in icy cold
cold enough to make him gasp
cold to the core of his being.
cold to freeze the blood
cold enough til frostbite
iced the loss of toes.
Days would pass in limbo—
the snare of inactivity
fought by slapping lifeless limbs.
Remembering the pause of childhood,
he prayed in fever for angels to save him.
Alas the dial of fortune passed him by
to crumble to dust. He explored no more.
This week’s wordle words are:
gasps, dial, left , angels, slap, snare,
dust, remember, loss, pause days, cold
oh, I was rather routing for him.

Yikes. The words suggested death to me, too, but you took it to a whole new level.

So sad, Viv. The coldness shot right through me. Well done.

Ah, the explorer in all of us. Thank goodness some of us actually find what we are searching for. I’m afraid far too many don’t even seek, or lose themselves in the frostbite of day to day living.

Thank you, Elizabeth. How percipient you are – you found the metaphor I have been searching for.

We can only hope he had found what he was looking for. Hopefully he is exploring a different place now.
