I dabbled my feet in that pond, years ago in Paris on a torrid July day, when I met for the first time a virtual friend and his wife, in the flesh. It gave us all pleasure to bond at once with what should have been strangers. The stroll through the flea market, stopping here for a coffee, there for a snack lunch; a glittering antique fabric shop, a scruffy second hand book shop – all served to cement the new friendship.
As we sat on the edge of the pond in the Luxembourg Gardens, cooling our aching feet, they told me a story – romantic and true, which I wrote about later (with their permission). That story was published, you’ll find it here. So I’ll always remember the pond and that day of friendship.|
Memories of the
enchanting power of Paris
sweetly linger long
I love the memories of this day, Viv! I would love to have lived every minute of it – those shops and such good company….so lovely!

Sounds wonderful to meet in the flesh! I like the way our virtual world creates such special links and poetic expression!

Lovely! I have some virtual friends who, if we were to meet in person, I’m sure we would not feel like strangers. It’s an odd phenomenon, getting to know people in a virtual world. I almost think it’s easier to get to know them better that way. Now I need to go check out the story. 🙂 Peace, Linda

Wonderful memories of friends and a very special place. They all go hand-in-hand, don’t they?

A lucky few of us have been able to meet up with cyber friends, like when Claudia traveled to NYC & LA. It always seems so dream-like to me, a precious event. I do so envy you yours–& how wonderful to look beyond the terrorist fear in Paris, at the sweetness of the past.
