Scraps for a quilt

I see red
in claret, crimson , scarlet ─
leaves on the ground
*
I see red
at injustice, treachery ─
righteous anger
*
I see red
in irritation at idiocy ─
nothing to be done
*
I see red
as a bright cheerful colour  ─
to keep me warm
*
I see red
as difficult to work with  ─
jarring clashes

For Miz Quickly who gave us two red pictures as inspiration for today’s poem.

I like your use of the phrase “I see red,” in both a literal and a metaphorical sense. Nicely done, Viv.

You missed a red – the one that has one fumingly tapping the steering wheel while waiting for green! 🙂

  3. The repetition works really well in this. and I like the fact that you chose a quilt as the metaphor on which to build your poem.

I too looked up the meaning of the color red.
So many shades… I remember growing up and having to be careful about clashing red colors.
    Nicely quilted set 🙂

    I see red
    powdered with white dots
    my favourite happy fabric
Lovely how one tiny word can have so many meanings…
