After the harvest the tractor dance
resumes to harrow, lime and sow.
Fourteen days spin by until
from dull brown swathe of stubble
emerges green enough to stun,
a grid of translucent stripes
across the span of my armchair view
Who would have dreamed
of such fertility sprouting
inviting me to trample
through November fields
in search of pictures and poetry.

I used all but two of today’s Wordle words, and today’s view also fits Miz Quickly’s prompt
Nature is very fertile and powerful!

It is never cheating when you are inspired an your piece fits more than one prompt!
No green here for awhile with November bringing chilled winds.
But our lawn is still green.

Seems like a metaphor for writing itself…ploughing..sowing..planting…and hopefully watching something wonderful bloom

very nice. I liked how you used the word grid:
a grid of translucent stripes
I had to investigate your use of the word harrow, which was new for me –
I was disappointed, because i looked your piece over twice hoping to see how you might have used vapid – but it wasn’t there –
it e-vapid-erated!

If a wordle word would spoil the poem, I don’t use it.

MAN, do I ever love the way these words fit together:
“dull brown swathe of stubble
emerges green enough to stun”

Reminds me of an Easter hymn we used to sing at school ‘Now the green blade riseth’…

Smiles. But it’s coming up to Christmas, not Easter, and such rapid growth is unexpected at the end of Autumn.
