Honeysuckle Troiku

Octpowrimo 30 wants us to write using all the senses.  I try to do that all the time, and a recent poem covers that prompt completely, so I must think of something new.  …   I’ve been looking for an excuse to write a Troiku, a form invented by Chevrefeuille.  Chevrefeuille is French for Honeysuckle, so this is in her honour

Upwards in a spiral
around a twiggy wigwam
grow the runner beans

Upwards in a spiral
around a handy hawthorn
honeysuckle glows

Around a handy hawthorn
it’s best to beware
long destructive spines

Honeysuckle glows
amid the darkling bushes
scented lure for bees.

Some great alliterations there, enhanced of course by the repetition – an intriguing form! I had a honeysuckle in the garden of my first house, still am haunted by that scent. Well done on completing OctPoWriMo – you must be exhausted!
