“Why must you leave me alone?
You’ll be alone all the time soon,
You could stay and keep me company.
We could chat – about anything
or nothing. Remember.
Remembering is good.
Remember Potain?
He was something else –
he had the power
to make our lives miserable.
And he did.”
“Why should I want to remember Potain?
You talk such rubbish most of the time.
I’d rather go to my room and listen to music.”
It makes no sense
but eavesdroppers rarely catch
anything more interesting than a cold.
Vivtoria at dVerse suggests we have a go at a dialogue poem: I thought it wouls be easy,. It was anything but! Do go and read some the accomplished poetry of other pubgoers.
Very interesting bit of dialogue. Like Bjorn said it conveys so many things. More interesting than a cold, I think 🙂

This reminds me some 7.7 years ago
or so.. when i lose my emotions
all feelings of warm and
fuzzy.. sitting at the
edge of my mother’s
bed knowing there is
that warm comfort
once and asking
her wasn’t
i ever happy
i know i
was but
i never
knew all
feelings can go away…
and that’s all that really
counts.. FeeLinGs.. THE LessOn.. FEELS
NOW..:)

‘Eavesdropping’ had naughty connotations universally. But here you’ve given it acceptance and it went smoothly in the dialog.

Conversation in life or in writing are hard enough. But to be challenged to put it in verse would be overwhelming. You did a good job of it.

I think it is fascinating when one has time to listen in on others’ conversations. As I am not familiar with Potain, I checked online…and came up with nothing. The conversation whetted my curiosity.

I found this eavesdropping extremely interesting.. it contains a lot of open ends, it’s really sends emotions of despair, of loneliness and dependence.. and indeed a cold in a way.
