Exhortation – Wordle 215

Friends, enemies and the rest,
I beseech you to make
a bridge across the pond
to carry the dispossessed to safety.
Be generous with your money
to help feed poor refugees.
The DNA in their cells is human, like ours.
We are family  under the skin.
Persuade the organs of the press
to stop spreading fear and panic.
Grit your teeth and admit the shame
of governmental knee jerk response skirting reality.
Send out a signal from your ivory towers
that the door is open in welcome.

Honest and direct Viv. A clarion call that needs to be shouted over the entire planet. In the city, where I used to live, our church sponsored a Vietnamese family. For whatever reason, the young mother took a particular liking to my person and we became friends. That reality is a treasured memory because it was a constantly enriching and enlightening experience. People have no clue what they miss and cheat themselves from when they choose to embrace their fears instead of reaching out to others,

  6. Very timely Viv. At last our government in the UK is beginning to rethink its attitude towards this tragic crisis. Hopefully it won’t be too little too late.

Yes indeed! I find myself thinking if only each town in every free country would welcome one family & help them get settled into a new life, really help them get settled, what a wonderful difference this would make! Enough complaining about refugees – time to really help them.

The world’s economic downturn doesn’t help governments to think clearly. Their thinking has too long been on getting the most profit from a situation sadly humanity is not in the equation.
