Courting Stalk-eyed Fly

For a successful female hunt,
length is everything.
Two flies with equal stalks
will brawl.
Winner takes all.

Male stalk-eyed flies with long eyestalks gain mating advantages both because of female choice and because they are better able to compete with rival males.
