Wild World

Tooth and claw
beak and paw
hoof and horn
all faune adorn
to gain a meal
for beast or bird.

But man has more
than tooth and claw,
he kills for sport,
or worse, for war,
misdirected faith
or gain.

for Sally’s wild challenge:  I was watching a nature programme on TV last night, with bears catching salmon, then the news came on, with its usual ration of man’s inhumanity to man.

Your poem definitely struck a chord with me this morning.
I never watch the news these days. I read a ’round-up’ once a week so I’m not totally out of touch but I find T.V. news depressing not only because of the content but also because a lot of the reporting is drawn out, speculative and not particularly informative.
