Success

It is only right and proper for a Grandma
– but not surprising –
to be proud of her offspring’s offspring.
Tears of joy are usual
when hearing of their success.
Grandson glowing with achievement
of musical distinction,
composition rocking.
Grandma in agreement,
and so she glows no less.

Margo Roby in her Tuesday Tryout suggests we write about success or failure.  Flushed with pride at my grandson Fraser’s Distinction in his first keyboard exam, I didn’t have far to look for this poem!

Yes but I have to say I think the examiner was generous. He failed to play one of the scales he was asked to as he couldn’t remember it. And from a proud daughter – he sat the exam at the Sage Gateshead where his Granny graduated with her Open University degree in her 70s! Sally
