There are daisies in the lawn
and a dandelion or two,
primroses and celandines
stand out here and there
violets just peeping through.
Catkins on the hazel boughs
still hide their rosy flower
but it won’t be long
before a cheer
salutes the thaumaturge
who shows us Spring is almost here.
Written for Margo Roby’s prompt to write about flowers, as well as for 6-Word-Saturday.
Thaumaturge was Dictionary.com’s word of the day a few days ago, and I just had to use it. It means maker of magic, miracle bringer.
It’s great how you brought all 3 themes together. And such a refreshing reminder of a pending Spring!

I love daisies, and when I cut the grass in the summer, I cut round them! Lovely poem. 🙂

What a lovely hopeful poem…love that daisy.,..I had to look twice for I took a shot exactly like that of one sole daisy a few years back on my mother’s front lawn.

Thank you. This shot was from last year, but dated February as well. Daisies are precocious here.

Aaah, look at that charming little beauty. We had snow this morning. Melted quick enough though, so no complaints. >

I enjoyed both the six word part and the vase full of Spring. I love flower names.

“How lovely a daisy would be right now,” he thought, while standing in thigh-deep snow, contemplating how comfortable he could be if only the temperature would rise to at least the freezing point.
