6-word-saturday and OctPoWrimo Day 4

A poem a day – nothing new

There aren’t many days when I don’t write a poem, but the prompts of OctPoWriMo keep me on the hop.  Today the prompt is for a revolutionary poem – I write lots of rebellious froth, but the news is so horrific these days that my mind shuts it out.  However in the interest of conformity:

Stand up for justice, fairness, peace.
It’s too late for action from me.
Write instead, don’t fight.
Keystrokes, mightier
than airstrikes –
no blood.

The Writers Digest April PAD challenge results were announced yesterday, and my poem Mon Oncle Bob made it to the shortlist on day 20.

  8. a poem titled Rebellion, in the interest of conformity. That, alone, made me smile. Was camping when Mon Oncle Bob first appeared and am so glad I went by to read that today. What a colourful character to have graced your life.

I love your line ‘keystroke mightier’. Life would seem perfect if the world were one huge book and writer club. Very nice.

I don’t know how you do it, Viv. You must constantly have snippets wandering through your brain. 🙂 I read the previous ones too. Loved the ‘chocolate’ one.

  14. Nice: “Keystrokes, mightier than airstrikes”

(picture me saying nice with a tone that indicates I really mean it, not the polite version).

I wish I’d fully believe that, I’d start fighting straight away.

  15. That’s a very poignant poem.
