Success Story, Wordle 154

154

I’m shivering on the  stretcher
despite July and rugs,
packed tightly as a sausage skin
into  pneumatic cocoon
and driven to an x-ray machine.

I growl, they put on morphine patches
to get to the root of the pain
then unaccountably
they take me home again.

By the time morning comes
I’ve been to hell and back
to hospital, where they did nothing,
indeed made matters worse.
I’m ready to create a row
but find a better plan:

a spell of months lying flat at home
with husband lovingly tending.
It’s time to heal  the fragile bones
while mending confidence.

Maybe after all is done,
heaven is on my side:
I burst out of my prison,
hobbling slowly, but free.

For the Sunday Whirl – the story of the second half of last year for me.

Oh gosh, what an experience–I can see why confidence would need mending! Hope you’re doing better now.

I am so happy you are doing better, Viv. I love this poem, it is very visual, and your last stanza rings of freedom. Sorry for the late visit. I can no longer bear Sundays alone here, so I go out for the day with friends to a soccer field. My friend’s husbands play soccer and we women sit around eating and talking. It works for me.

  12. Not helping the economy here in France – 2 weeks in hospital and oodles of tests and meds cost us only the nominal daily rate for food and laundry. There is an excellent healthcare system here which our working-lifetime of contributions pays for.

Hospitals often make things worse..slowly recuperating and finding your strength is the best foot forward..though can be painfully slow

There is nothing quite like “Bursting out of your prison, hobbling slowly, but free.” Sadly no doubt poorer, but helping the economy…and ready to write bundles!
