Six word Saturday

On a wild goose chase today

to find a gendarme to report a theft.  If we’d been speeding we’d have found one soon enough, but all the gendarmeries in a 30km radius were closed.  You press a button at the gate, and a disembodied female voice (backed by Vivaldi) tells you “Gendarmerie de la Manche. Nous traitons votre appel” (Police of la Manche, we’re dealing with your call) over and over and over.  Nobody was there,  neither at a medium-sized town on market day nor at our old village.  Eventually, back at our old village, a man’s voice interrupted the Vivaldi. “Il n’y a personne, revenez cet après midi” (there’s nobody here, come back this afternoon)   Puzzled as to who it was speaking if there was no-one there, I replied, in French “It’s a good job I’m not in the process of being raped.”

Let’s be optimistic and say borrowed – or maybe the thief will be caught speeding with your trailer 🙂

With that amount of boredom, one would think that they’d welcome a chance for a little action. ‘A theft? C’est si bon! Something to do at last!’
Hey – you didn’t watch the trailer, but you still want to see the flic? 🙂

It can be so frustrating! One can be certain one gets the same response even if they are around. Only when something terrible happens that they move! Rightly said Viv!

It would be nice if it were returned as easily as it went missing, Viv 🙂

  11. I hope that you will be able to at least file a report soon. I wonder if they have a website so that you can file a complaint on their Gendarmerie website. Good luck Viv.
