the ravings of a (temporary, I hope) madwoman

I promised dVerse readers last week that I would have a poem for this week’s Open Link Night.  The poem materialised as SCREAM  on Sunday, but here are the origins, the jottings made in hospital under the influence of pain and drugs.  My son took the pictures and I haven’t managed to enlarge them, but clicking on the images makes them readable.

Even if I enlarge the pages they are still illegible, but the gist found its way into the SCREAM poem.  I can’t bear to read these again!

My dear friend. Here am I, claiming to be writer … unable to find the words to express myself.

    Here’s a hug instead.

I’m glad to see from previous comments that you’re now getting some proper sleep and that this awful period is now behind you. I can only admire your impulse to put the pain into words on paper, even while it was really bad!

I couldn’t read it, sorry, but wanted to put in a word to say SCREAMING is good for relieving pain, releasing emotions, and healing some of the dis-ease. No use being brave all the time. Bravo for writing by finger or dictation until you get your spine back. Paper can take the scream and then some. It heals, it really does.

Inspiring poetry or not, I hope that is an experience well behind you!

  8. The worst is not having the doctors know you, and that’s the trend here in the states. They now have hospitalists who take over for the regular docs. Not good. Continuity is so important.

Horrible. I do hope that you don’t have to go through that again, and that things are on a more even keel now, but home to your own food and your own bed must be better than dealing with all that and a hospital.. take care viv honey. PLEASE don’t get into trouble again! if you are desperate to do something, bake a nice cake then go back to bed and eat it! Speaking of cakes, i feel like baking a cake today too! c

    • Celie, I would dearly love to be able to stand long enough to bake a cake.  But we’re not short of cakes, which are pouring through the door in the hands of our many friends here! As are pies and stews etc.  Jock hasn’t had to cook for days!      I am at long last allowed to walk the 5 yards to the loo, using my Nordic poles to take my weight,  and under strict supervision in case I slip! Love, ViV
