Triolets for Napowrimo

Triolet 1

What do you think this is ?  A game?
eight line metrical rhyming verse
with repeats, a triolet is its name.
What do you think this is? A game?

It’s fun to write one all the same –
to fun I’m not at all averse.
It really is some kind of game,
to write in metrical rhyming verse.

Triolet 2

A woman’s place is in the wrong,
to stroke the ego of her man.
Despite the fact that she is strong
a woman’s place is in the wrong.

To keep the peace – her canny plan –
she has to jolly him along,
pretend that she is in the wrong –
to soothe the ego of her man.

I’m always soothing Len’s ego. His very presence soothes me, it only seems fair. 😉

  2. Viv, always impressed with your forms, but the second was particularly insightful. I’m glad that is not the case with Lex and me, but I certainly can attest to the fact that it made my parents’ marriage easier… on my mom! Loved the phrase, “Jolly him along,” so very British. Peace, Amy

  3. You missed an ‘is’ on L4.

The truth inherent in the second one is rather sad.

  4. Lindy Lee says:

    Triolets 1 & 2 make a clever poet of you…

  5. You nailed it 🙂
