THANKFUL TANKA

No synonym for
my state of mind, encouraged
by teacher-poet
that less is frequently more.
The word I want is grateful.

Hannah’s prompt  at We Write Poems was to write a Tanka.  Tankas are often about nature and the nature of craftmanship .  Mine is about thankfulness for a fundamental lesson learned from a poetry week spent with RV Bailey and five other fine poets.

I think the mood is sufficiently shown to qualify for the prompt at Poetry Jam to write a poem with an established mood.

Short poems took me the longest to learn to write, yet I love them for their single focus and clarity of image

Thank you for the wonderful reminder that we all need to understand the value of simplicity. The choice is within and it should be at the top of our gratitude list.

Less, less is often more……in poetry as well as other situations. And grateful is something we should all be for soooo many things.
