Double-Dactyls for Napowrimo 30

Napowrimo yesterday gave us the prompt to write a clerihew or a double dactyl poem.  They did the same thing last year, so I make no apology for offering these from Napo 2011.  They have been revised, as the originals had the wrong number of lines, which meant I had to find new rhymes for the last lines – see http://www.napowrimo.net/ for full instructions.

Double dactyl delight (which sounds like a pudding)

Comedy, tragedy
two sides of history,
rations of one counter-
balance the other.

Dollops of gladness
and portions of badness,
but which is quite which
it is hard to discover.

Double dactyl Disaster

Political tragedy
feminine apathy
historical fight
for the vote was in vain.

Parliamentarians’
continued shenanigans
contemptible avarice
dishonoured in shame.

  1. I like the first best, Viv. Here is a cheer for napowrimo finally ending! It has been tiring, to say the least.

Viv, these are great. They were so much fun to read, I had to do a double-take and read them each 2x!

I agree with Tilly. They read like a romp, yet the content is glum. Nicely done.

Love the contrast of the jolly rhythm with the subject matter.
