Safety, for We Write Poems

Two little poems, not to mention the binful of rejects!

Safe as a cuddle
secure as a hug,
the comfort of knowing
I’m snug by the fire
in my house on the hill.

No safety in this world of ours,
subject to despotic dominion.
In the turmoil of unjust wars,
peace is taking a long pause
in a malaise of corrupt  powers.
Pray that peace will soon return,
with fairness and just laws.

Thanks for looking at this topic. We only see more when we do look. I don’t feel “safe” much at all, although no one’s come to eat me today. I take comfort where I can. Friendly arms, warm fire, those are good. And we can be glad for the comfort of making worry with only our words (as some can’t so easily). Thanks Viv.

  2. Viv, your second, on security, resonates for me here in Madison, WI, scene of a possible busting of state workers’ unions by a governor who was installed by multi-billionaires. Perfect timing.

That said, your first was such a comfort for me, like a warm blanket. Thank you so much for both. Amy

beautiful pair vivin. my prayers are with you.

  4. Tilly Bud says:

I read once that there has never been a day without war on this planet since the end of WWII. I suspect your hope is in vain.

I loved the first line of ‘Safety’.

  5. Irene says:

Me too, I feel very snug at home.

The lack of security scares the hell out of me.

  6. Mike Patrick says:

It looks as though despotic dominion may become a thing of the past is several regions of the world. At least there may be a changing of the guard. I hope the devil they don’t know is not worse than the devil they know.

  7. ms pie says:

  11. pamela says:

Viv, I love the safety part, it is how I feel.
I, too, want to see peace, but I believe corruption
    will prevail.
