Moth Whispers

for Thursday Poetry Rally http://jingleyanqiu.wordpress.com/2010/09/22/thursday-poets-rally-week-29-sept-23-29/

This is a poem from last year, a quasi sonnet:

Moth Whispers

Moth whispers brush the bedside lamp.
Summer’s here, with  nightly fear
of fluttering, biting, stinging things.
Tossing, turning, sweating, burning
from  daily overdose of  sun.
Moth-wings tapping at lighted windows,
starlit nights with yearning filled.
Through winter’s dark she’d longed for summer,
sleeveless frocks and sun-browned limbs.
Freedom, lightness, like the moth-wings
flicker in untroubled youth.

Crept October soon upon her,
dreaming of Eros by frosty sky.
Autumn chill, and moth-wings  still.

This is so well done…I could imagine every line as I read, and it flows so easily that one hardly notices he’s reading….but just having a thought. Nicely crafted, my friend.

I love the concept of moth wings as it overlays the line of sunbrown arms. Simply lovely!
