Loss? for Writers Island

The Last Redwood Prompt for http://writersisland.wordpress.com/  keeps reverberating in my head, hence one more doom-laden poem.  Perhaps by writing like this I can hold back the tide.

Loss

I’ve never seen a redwood
and now I never will.
Giant reduced to pygmy
by the carelessness of man,
as another precious species
bites the dust.
How much more’s to lose
before the child is  grown,
or will wisdom prevail,  reverse
catastrophe from its lethal course?

People should take your words to heart! I live in Calif and frequently go North to the coast where the Redwoods are, there is absolutely nothing on earth to compare with these majestic creatures! I am sorry you have never seen or touched or smelled their scent.

It’s terrifying how quickly we’re wiping out species on this planet.

That is really something worth pondering over.. or better still, acting over!
Loved the force in this poem! It really brought the message across!
Sad is the story these days, in the name of progress and development.. (sigh)
