The beat begins to burst upon my eardrums,
the blare blurts out from saxophone and ‘bone.
Excitement enters with the burst of music
as ripple riffs of drumsticks spread the sound.
Old Satchelmouth looks down on us from heaven.
In approval, with the saints, he marches by
and the packed arena cheers and stomps in synch
with sweet notes soaring back to paradise.
Hallelujah, Jazz, alive and well.
