Homily

A new year is the time for self-improvement:

to take a pause of calm deliberation
to be awake to all the flaws within
to jettison all bitterness and regret
to stoke the fire of righteous indignation
to listen to the wisdom  of good counsel
to strive anew  for clarity of purpose
to venture into untried fields of interest
to undertake the art of meditation
to halt the giddy rush towards the end

We Write poems wants an anaphora this week – I’ve written several, and this is a revamped version of one I wrote on New Year’s Day.  That was a wordle, and I’ve eliminated some of the wordle words which didn’t really fit.  Tillybud is always telling me to do that, and I usually forget!

Love the first and the last, the “pause of calm deliberation” and halting the “giddy rush towards the end”. They are so aptly placed in the poem and are truly wise words!

  3. Judy Roney says:

What a great poem of importance as we look at this year for those that want to take stock and take a step towards a better personal best.

Nice Viv. Glad to read also that your cough will go away.

Thanks for the note about spell checking…I thought I’d gone through that and it was only because of the Bold that some of the words were ‘underlined’. I did check others, and according to the Web dictionary they were good…I’ll check again. Thanks for being alert for me.

    i haven’t done wordles, but i do occasionally go back and edit out a prompt that didn’t really fit. i try not to force the use of a prompt any more, which is why i don’t do wordles. {smile}

i love your list of things “to” do!

  6. Ron. says:

I’m with Ms Gosselin on the bitterness & regret jettison: among many great lines/ideas, this above all for me.

  7. 1sojournal says:

Love it Viv, remember the first one, this is so much better. I thought about doing the same thing (have actually thought about it many times) just don’t have a Tilly Bud to remind me, lol.

  11. Laurie Nichols says:

My son said that I should undertake the art of meditation earlier today and lo and behold I find it in your wonderful poem. How coincedental.:) How fortuitous?

  12. Oh, so many great ones to live by here and this one speaks to me most today: “jettison all bitterness and regret…” :) ’s to you, Viv!
