Margo Roby, in her Thursday discussion piece about poetry, always gives excellent advice. But this week I had to giggle as – instead of pause, consider options, themes and whatnot – this poem flooded straight into my head.
Margo tells me to list -
a point that I may have missed.
In my eagerness to start
I may have skipped that part
Why oh why did I resist?
Margo has told me to jot -
not something that I do a lot.
I tap on a keyboard
(which might cause some discord)
ideas, or words cool and hot.
Maybe non sequitur, maybe not.
I dive in head first
to quench my thirst
with a burst of poetry:
Ill-advised, improvised
and frequently perverse.
I beg you, Margo: forgive me.

hehe! Straight in. Sometimes that’s the best way
How nice to find your blog…and this lovely fun poem…through your comment on Via Lucis!
I have every sympathy with your views having had enough dealings with the Architects of Batiments de France to drive me into strong hysterics.
Thank you for visiting, Helen. I shall return the visit!
Spontaneous excellence!
Viv, you write with such joy, and I do love your “letting go” poems, where you allow your mind to simply capture the moment. And yes, if I didn’t have post-its, I’d be truly lost. Mind like a steel… sieve. Thanks for your comment on my Puerto Rican poem. It’s amazing how close the romance languages are… Love, Amy
I love this – fun and cheerful and full of the joy of writing!
I have lists upon lists…I’ll share ! Love you poem…and it hard to jot and list on the computer, BUT
I have little post a notes that I can use on the screen of my computer….never a spare post it…they are always in use !
I do that – computer post-its of reminders that greet me when I log on in the morning.
