Six Word Saturday

It’s back to normal gloom today

After a cheering-upping sunshiny day yesterday, the sky is sulking again.

But I’m cheerful, having managed to back up everything on my laptop to a spare hard disk. This is a load off my mind after the fear of losing everything due to gremlins in the USB ports – a painful disease to which there is no known cure – or so says my tame 18-year-old genius  at the local computer repairers.

A very Anglophone afternoon was passed on Thursday in the  comfy-cozy  little Cinema-on-the-Beach, watching Skyfall  in VO (version originale, ie, in English with French subtitles)  There was even free tea and digestive biscuits afterwards!  The film could hardly have been more violent, or less feasible, yet it was also very funny. Daniel Craig was a different kind of gorgeous as James Bond – though I didn’t like his haircut – and Judi Dench excelled herself. The effects were superb and the opening sequence the best yet – more spectacular than the mini chase in the Italian Job.  I wish I knew how to embed a video here.

In spite of the external gloom, you got a lot done!

  2. Linda says:

Almost took the teenage grandkids to see that movie last night, but then we got snow, and bitterly cold temps, so we decided to stay home and stay warm.

Maybe sometime this week we can try again!

    Happy SWS a day late!

  3. Snakypoet (Rosemary Nissen-Wade) says:

I’m glad the gloom was only in the weather, not in you.

  4. Karen S. says:

Good luck on the weather, and better computer days ahead too! I want to see that movie too!

  5. Tonya says:

You are one smart cookie backing that up before something bad happens. I had to pay over $2500.00 to get info off a dead hard drive a few years ago. You would think I would back up more often after that but no…

I believe you have to purchase a plug in, or some such, from WordPress to embed a video, Viv? I get a message from them if I try to use one on mine. I have a memory stick at hand to back mine up, but I haven’t got around to it yet. But I know I absolutely should! Soon!

  7. Scary things, gremlins in the computer. I have had them and they are a pest! Glad you have everything backed up! Have a great rest of your day!

  8. Jess says:

It’s such a relief to have things backed up!Glad you enjoyed Skyfall and let’s hope for some clear sky for you soon

  9. Judy says:

Our warm weather is melting the snow! January thaw!

  10. The way you saw Skyfall is how everyone ought to see a movie; sounds absolutely delightful. I don’t mind the gray skies here because it always means warmer temperatures; blue signifies a return to bone chilling temperatures. I equate the grayness with the image of a huge down comforter.

  11. Dana says:

I hope you enjoy your day, despite the gloominess outside. :)

  12. Three good things there – a nice sunny day, a success saving your files to disk and the James Bond film! I enjoyed the JB film too – having not been too keen to see it as I hadn’t enjoyed the previous one at all.

  13. Ron. says:

    V.O., eh?
I love (most) of the Bonds; will have to get out for this one. Thanks, V!

  14. magicalmysticalteacher says:

At least there’s something normal about your life! :)

  15. Robyn says:

Free tea and biscuits? Can’t find that here in a movie theater!

  16. cessie says:

Our days are like that as well. Today we do have a clear blue sky so I’m not complaining today obviously. Tomorrow might be different though ;)
I haven’t seen Skyfall yet, sounds like they made a lovely outing out of it for you, with the tea and all that!

  17. ferragudofan says:

Skyfall was wonderful – love Daniel Craig as Bond so much! didn’t like the baddies hair though!!! Dame Judi Dench is fabulous too – and what an ending!

  18. thehutts says:

Sunshining here and no snow much to Fraser’s disappointment.

I love it when you leave a Reply
