Womanhood
The way of women nowadays
can lead to anything and everything.
We were not always free.
Think back a century or two
to find a different life
Men it was who had the power,
the role of woman subservient,
bound to follow husband’s rule
within the home, with needle, thread
and cooking pot – an easier existence
than trying to do it all.
I wrote two poems with this week’s wordle words, and don’t like either of them.
Manhood
Men who think only of themselves
are bound to stay single,
damaged by dominance
inherent in the male state.
We women try to tread
a different way
within the sorority of caring.
The thread that joins one gender
to the other is tenuous,
resting on imbalance of power.
It is too easily snapped.

You may not like your poems here but this reader surely does…
I like them both absolutely Viv and think that they stand together beautifully as the yin/yang of the sexes. To me they seem like one poem together.
Thank you, Vero nca. All this praise and they might grow on me!
I agree with rosross. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with either of your pieces. I wish my little creations were half as good as yours.
I like both of them, Viv. They each have something of value to say. You are too hard on yourself and I think Tilly Bud has a great idea: go with the theme and forget about the wordle words. I especially like the final lines of the second one, which is at the core of both.

I tried it after reading Tilly’s comment, but it could never work – it was the wordle words which drove the poem, and without them there was nothing.
i liked the second one in idea
What rosross said. Your stuff is always good.
I like “the sorority of caring,” and enjoyed both explorations. Well wordled, Viv!
“The thread that joins one gender

It is too easily snapped.”
This is SO true, Viv. So nice to see you!!
I agree with rosross, you are hard on yourself. I think that they both say a great deal and with lyrical feeling.
Women’s idea of world domination is to be the superwoman. That’s so 80s. So we’re now thinking about the good old days. Jeez.
Try re-writing them without the wordle words, just go with the theme.
I prefer the first. It’s a very emotive mix of words this week. I was drawn in because I’m currently reading Phillipa Gregory (I’m a late starter- haven’t read historical novels for years) and the attitudes to the women of the Boleyn household were unbelievable.
I think you are too hard on yourself.
