Blind

The mind boggles at their blindness -
those men of power who fail to see
the contempt in which we hold them,
for their greed, their lack of kindness
their lying cupidity and venality.

Politicians blind to suffering and poverty -
eyes only on the main chance,
think always “what’s in it for me,”
their ears only open to big business -
they deny their faults emphatically.

Where are the lenses which will bless
their vision with more clarity,
where  the aids to unstop their ears,
where are the men of wisdom
to lead us with truth,  justice and goodness?

3 x 33 word stanzas for Trifecta.  The prompt is to use the third definition of the word  Blind –  3 a : having no regard to rational discrimination, guidance, or restriction <blind choice> b : lacking a directing or controlling consciousness <blindchance> c : drunk

  1. I echo the passion you conveyed through this piece. At Trifecta we always ask for the third definition of the word as highlighted on our website. This was the second use. Thanks for sharing this with us. Be sure to come on back soon.

I hear you on this, Viv. Good write. I am tired of them …

  3. Annabelle says:

Excellent questions all. Sadly, I think the political process forces even the best of men to play the game.

  4. Patti says:

    Amen and hallelujah!

  5. Lumdog says:

A lovely poem with a provoking message. Nicely done!

  6. I love it when you rant.

I think you missed a ‘to’ in L2.

I love it when you leave a Reply
