If you blinked you missed summer this year
the odd day or two here and there
but those lazy hazy crazy days did not appear.
Absence of summer? A minor tragedy I fear.
The Trifecta prompt is the third meaning of the word Absence in from 33-333 words: stick to my rule of exactly 33.
1: the state of being absent
2: the period of time that one is absent
3: want, lack <an absence of detail>

We’re still in the thick of it, here in Hong Kong, but I’m dreading the rain and wind and cold that I know is just around the corner. I’ll take the sweaty heat any day! Thanks for linking up with Trifecta this week.
Ah! Yes indeed!
First day of school and it is down to nine degrees this morning.
Beautifully said.
Nice poem. I fear your summer has visited where I live – it’s been a long one, though not as hot as normal
My summer was most definitely a blink. Nicely written.
Its crazy how fast this summer went. nicely done.
True, so true!
We had a very long, hot summer. It is still summer here (southern California). Personally, I’m done with the heat. Bring on autumn. Soon!
Wonderful thirty-three words. Our summer is lasting and lasting, 95F today here at four and was supposed to be 99. It will last until October I’m thinking. Hurricane season ends November 1. Perhaps you will have another short visit.
..
I am not complaining about your nice absence poesm but if it were mine I would change around the second line a bit. To, ‘the odd day or two there and here’ to keep the four line rhyme.
..
I prefer half rhyme and I don’t know about American English, but in UK English there and here would sound positively weird!
No summer here either but at the moment it’s insufferably humid, so it’s difficult to sleep at night.
Very nice poem. I’m afraid that in Florida, we got the full effects of summer!
We had some beautiful sunny days in the Alps!
There was no summer yet I still got sunburnt… I was very puzzled…. however, I suppose English weather is always puzzling
Great post!
Summer has been noticeable for it’s absence, I’m hoping the Indians will arrive in time !
Maybe just maybe you will have some lovely autumnal sunshine.. careful not to blink though!c
That would be a tragedy! We had what felt like an insanely extended summer here, and even now, I’m hoping for more.
This summer did just fly by, the whole year has.
It didn’t fly by – it only arrived in penny portions widely separated by rain and wind.
