Beneath flittering flight
of meadow brown,
grassland froths fertile,
felled in green and ochre
slanting stripes on sharpened scene
dappled, drenched in dusty light
cocooned in blur of darker headland,
pointing towards the setting sun.

The Harvest by Camille Pissarro.
This poem is re-written and shrunk from an earlier Wordle poem, and refers not to the Pissarro painting, but to the view from our verandah, for the Poets’ Pub prompt to write an impressionistic poem.

Beautiful and descriptive, Hen.
Whether bringing into words the Pissarro or your own view (and how lucky you are with that!), this is a fine pairing of the visual and the verbal.
love this painting and what a lovely poem to complement it.. c
the second to last line is just perfect poetry!!

You’ve really made this come alive, Viv. I like your smooth use of alliteration.
Haytime conveys hard work! The ‘setting sun points to long hours on the job. At the end of the day it is still difficult to survive on limited income. Great write ,Viv!
Hank.
Totally a visual delight, and lovely, effective use of alliteration throughout.
“grassland froths fertile”
Wow, that’s lovely!
I love the way you painted the scene with your words. Loved the alliteration.
mmmm. The alliteration reads just like the paint strokes you reveal in this impression of the fields.
Beautiful, Viv!
nice…i really like your word choices in this…it builds a picture well…and draws the lines of perspective…tight brushstrokes viv…you captured the image….as with claudia i have known a few harvests in my day…smiles
Very nice descriptions and vivid colours through all of this Viv.
Particularly like “flittering light”…
I can picture it! You have an amazing view.
nice capture of the scene viv…esp. love that you brought in the setting sun…the play of shade and light…and brought back some memories as well..used to help my uncle bringing in the hay…loved it as a kid though it is hard work..
