Six word Saturday

Dreary dismal days drag me down

I have hardly poked my nose outside all week.  This fag end of winter can’t go out soon enough for me.

Jock has finished all the stone walls at our friends’ house, but I won’t take a picture until the sun shines on them.  He’s also finished wallpapering downstairs and is about to start upstairs.  The paper is perhaps half a shade darker than the original tired painted walls,  looks marginally warmer.

sunny sitting room 2007                                 today, on a grey day.

The magnum opus is on the stool, as I am in the process of hand-quilting, a long job.  Some of Jock’s embroideries are on the walls.

The room does look warmer and I think the rug helps a lot as well. When the world is gloomy outside, we need all the cheer we can get inside!

    Thanks for playing 6WS!

  2. pmwanken says:

:) First off — I agwee with Won!

And…looking at the two pictures was like one of those games printed in a magazine — find all the differences. So fun. And I agree with the others…the room has a warmth all on its own. Dreary weather or not.

Here’s hoping for some sunshine soon!
    *hugs*

I love the new look in the living room, it is warm and inviting and has a real glow.

We had a glimpse of bright blue sky here today, It was lovely to see! I will see if I can send some blue sky and signs of spring your way. :-)

  4. Fire up the hearth, Viv, light some candles. You can create your own sun :)

  5. ceciliag says:

Oh I know exactly what you mean, I am staring at the grass at every pass looking for any shade of green. great time to be wallpapering!! brighten up!! c

  6. Linda says:

Oh I know what you mean. (We have had a mild winter… but, I am looking forward to the time when the flowers and trees start to bloom again!…I love Spring!)

  7. Debbie says:

I think we’re all hoping for an early spring!

  8. sorry the day is sooo dreary, but the walls and such look so appealing!

  9. Jim says:

Viv, I too was looking at the pretty rug and trying to determine whether it was the same rug in better light or what. We have some tired rugs also but have only thrown one away recently.

I am sorry about your weather. Ours, right now, is on the up and up with a lot of rain falling last night helping our drought. I posted this morning about how a creature will adapt to our Spring.

  12. granny1947 says:

We are back into the thirties again…want to swap?

  13. joursdemots says:

A hint of sunshine today, Viv. The fog yesterday certainly added an air of mystery to the old town. Wish I’d had my camera with me.

  14. cessie says:

I can imagine it wears you down… I’m trying very very hard not to let it happen this winter ;)
I do love the foggy photo though, landscapes always get mysterious from it.

  15. I’m not a fan of dreary days or winter at the best of times. There’s something energising about sunshine and blue skies. Hope they’re headed your way soon

  16. Tilly Bud says:

    Don’t be down!

The slight difference in colour is cheerful, anyway. Is that a new rug?

    • viv blake says:

Not a new rug. When the first photo was taken, the silk rug from upstairs was in the sitting room, but it was showing signs of wear from too much traffic, so we swapped them over. It was like this when you were here.

I love it when you leave a Reply
